Congratulations to Valedictorian Aubrey Lokey

Congratulations to Aubrey Lokey,  chosen as Spring 2019 Valedictorian by Cleveland State University and the College of Science and Health Professions!

Aubrey Lokey graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Physics and Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering with a minor in mathematics. She was the secretary and the treasurer of the Society of Physics Students and a member of the IEEE Student Branch on campus, as well as the IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society. During her time at Cleveland State, she worked an administrative assistant with Operation STEM, a National Science Foundation funded mathematics support program at Cleveland State. She has volunteered with the Society of Physics Students Outreach Team, which demonstrates physics activities for large groups of K-8 students and assists with outreach events at the university.

During Summers 2016 and 2018, she was a LERCIP Intern NASA Glenn Research Center, working with projects in fluid physics and human health and habitation. She has co-presented and presented at the American Society for Gravitational and Space Research 2016 and 2018 meetings. In Summer 2017, she was an undergraduate research assistant with the Computing in Secondary Schools program, a professional development program for teachers implementing computer science curricula.

She is the 2018 recipient of the YWCA Dr. Jennie S. Hwang Award, recognizing the outstanding achievements of female students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and math-related disciplines.

Aubrey will be attending Michigan State University this fall, where she will begin a PhD program in Experimental Nuclear Physics and is the only one of 20 incoming doctoral students to be the recipient of a Michigan State University Distinguished Fellowship.
