The COSHP Diversity Council promotes awareness, accommodation, and appreciation of differences among students, faculty, and staff. Each year, several initiatives are planned and implemented; see below for the College’s current activities and available resources.
Respecting Diversity: Practical Tips for Engaging with All Students (Fall 2017)
This booklet, which is being distributed to all COSHP faculty and staff, offers brief tips to foster a richer and more effective learning environment for all students … including military veterans, first-generation college students, students with disabilities, international students, and students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.
This calendar of religious observances that will be helpful to faculty (for writing syllabi and scheduling exams and other classroom activities), and to other members of the campus community who wish to be aware of dates of religious significance to students.
College activities scheduled in celebration of “Hidden Figures,” a film chronicling the experiences of African American women who contributed to NASA’s achievements in the 1950s – 1960s.
The Masters Program in Diversity Management is committed to providing high quality, relevant CE and MCE programs to individuals who are interested in strengthening their professional profiles, through continued growth, development and skill building. We offer dynamic programs on a variety of challenging subjects concerning culturally competent professional behavior in diverse work environments.
Promoting Student Engagement and Success in STEM Careers
CSU offers a number of programs, housed within the College of Sciences and Health Professions, that are designed to promote student awareness and engagement in the sciences. These programs concentrate on enhanced preparation for more advanced coursework, and on student mentoring to sustain confidence and interest in post-graduate study and science-related careers.
