Mrs. Norma J. Freeman Legacy
The faculty and staff of Project 400: Our Lived Experience at Cleveland State University extends our sincerest condolences to Mr. Don Freeman and Family in the passing of Mrs. Norma Freeman. Mrs. Freeman was a champion for the underserved members of the Black community. Her work and contributions to Cleveland State University and the community will be cherished and remembered. "Mother" Freeman was the matriarch of the African American grassroots and activist community in Cleveland and her legacy will live on as a respected ancestor. A committee comprised of representatives from Cleveland State University, Case Western Reserve University, the Cleveland Public Library, the YWCA of Greater Cleveland, First Year Cleveland, and Candid begun meeting and planning activities in observance of this seminal episode in America’s History.
