3.1.22 - Standing with Ukraine

March 1, 2022

To our campus community,

Over the past week, we have watched the unfolding global crisis sparked by the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Cleveland State University joins the higher education community in condemning the invasion and standing with the people of Ukraine and its academic community.

The greater Cleveland metropolitan area is home to more than 25,000 Ukrainians – one of the largest Ukrainian communities in the state – and we know the war is being deeply felt in this part of our community. Many local organizations are responding by working to raise funds to aid refugees and meet other humanitarian needs. If you are interested in helping, the Cleveland Council on World Affairs recommends these organizations:

The U.S. State Department also maintains a list of reputable organizations providing support on the ground.

Please know that we have reached out to members of our campus community from the affected regions to offer support. We also understand that this crisis may be difficult for members of our broader university community. For this, or any other reason, please don’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it.
