AT Hardware for Students On the Go

Students can borrow certain equipment from ODS for the term or on a daily checkout basis. We maintain a variety of technologies that students can use in their classrooms, around campus, or take home for use in their studies. Equipment can only be checked out if a staff member approves it as a necessary accommodation.

We have a wide range of equipment that can be lent to students. For students with visual impairments we have a broad range of portable video magnifier units, talking calculators, and Braille displays. For students Who are Hard of Hearing we have Personal FM units and a UbiDuo unit for students to borrow to assist with communication. We lend LiveScribe pens to students who are eligible for recording course lectures. There is other hardware that Disability Services has for lending to students related to accommodations provided through our office.

Any equipment lent to students we ask to have promptly returned at the end of the lending term, so that we can have it available for other students use or to provide necessary maintenance. We have limited supplies of this equipment so if you are not using it please return it to the office so that it is available for other students.

Rules for Borrowing Equipment

Students who may be eligible to borrow hardware from our office need to read and acknowledge the Equipment Loan Agreement in the Disability Services Online System each year before requesting accommodations. This agreement outlines the terms that students are responsible for. If students do not return equipment on time frequently or egregiously, we can charge late fees. If students either break equipment or do not return equipment it can be charged to their account. If charges to student’s campus account are not paid before the next term, it may delay enrollment or graduation.
