Study Abroad this Summer with the Confucius Institute at Cleveland State
Travel to Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai!
This summer, the Confucius Institute at Cleveland State University invites you to join us for a one-month study abroad experience at Capital University of Economics and Business (CUEB) in Beijing, China. This program offers a first-hand opportunity to learn Mandarin Chinese, understand China’s growing role in the global economy, and discover the rich cultural heritage of China.
Students will take 6 credit hours of classes at CUEB, including 4 hours of Mandarin, 1 hour of culture, and 1 hour of business classes. (Business classes will be taught in English.)
During the visit, students will live and study on the CUEB campus in Beijing. They will have the opportunity to do some sightseeing while there, including visits to the Summer Palace, Forbidden City, and the Great Wall. The program will also include cultural, historic, and business visits to Xi’an and Shanghai. Xi’an is the capital of 12 dynasties, the eastern terminus of the Silk Road, and the home of the Terracotta Warriors. Shanghai is the financial center of China, a nexus of Chinese tradition and European style influence.
Proposed travel dates are approximately May 14-June 15, 2014. When the official dates are confirmed, they will be published on the Confucius Institute website and emailed to any students that have expressed interest.
The all-inclusive program fee is $2,950. A $450 scholarship from the Confucius Institute is available. (Please see the scholarship form.) This fee includes:
- Round trip airfare with group flight from Cleveland to China
- Chinese visa and processing fees
- Lodging and meals on the CUEB campus
