Professor Bob Abelman, Ph.D., of Cleveland State University has been named best critic in Ohio by the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists.
Dr. Abelman, a professor of media arts and technology in the CSU School of Communication, is the theater critic for Cleveland Jewish News, which this year won a total of seven Ohio SPJ Awards. His reviews also run in several other local newspapers, including The News-Herald and The Morning Journal.
“The award is a real honor because there are so many good critics, especially here in Northeast Ohio,” Dr. Abelman said. “Cleveland Jewish News is doing good journalism, and it’s great to be a part of that, too.”
Dr. Abelman won first place in the Ohio SPJ’s Best of Show category. The awards ceremony was held in August in Columbus.
