Tutoring & Academic Success Center

Have a quick question?  Totally lost in a class?  Wish you had better note-taking skills?  Never fear, the Tutoring & Academic Success Center is here!  TASC offers one-to-one tutoring, walk-in tutoring, eTutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI) and Structured Learning Assistance (SLA).  Over 800 students are currently signed-up for ongoing tutoring sessions because it works!

SI- Supplemental Instruction courses provide additional academic support to over 100 sections of CSU courses.  SI courses incorporate an SI Leader, usually a student peer or graduate student, into the course.  The SI Leader attends all course lectures and then conducts 2-4 review sessions each week.

SLA- Structured Learning Assistance provides additional support like SI, with two key differences:

  1. SLA review sessions are built into the course, the way a lab session is built into a science course.  When you enroll in an SLA-supported course, you also enroll in the review session, but at no extra cost.
  2. SLA courses have an attendance policy for the review sessions.  All students attend SLA sessions at the start of the term.  Continued attendance becomes mandatory for the students who are below the expected performance goal set by the course instructor.

If you would like someone to assist you in starting tutoring, a representative from the Women’s Center is happy to help.
