CSU Faculty and Staff Traveling Overseas for Work - Academic Initiatives

Cleveland State University has contracted with International SOS (ISOS) to provide emergency medical, personal, travel, legal, and security assistance services to faculty, staff and students when they are traveling overseas on university related activities.

Anyone intending to travel internationally related to your university activities should contact the Center for International services and Programs (CISP). CISP will provide an ISOS pamphlet and card indicating the account number assigned to Cleveland State University. Refer to the card when requesting emergency services from ISOS.

Contact ISOS when you become ill and potentially need medical attention or are involved in an accident or a security related incident in a foreign country. ISOS will help in dealing with the emergency including taking care of language problems and determining that adequate standards of medical care are obtained. Additionally, if you are traveling in a foreign country where the political situation is unstable or quickly deteriorating, ISOS will help arrange your evacuation.

Use the phone number on your card to contact ISOS staff. Services range from telephone advice and referrals to full-scale medical evacuations by private air ambulance. The ISOS Network of critical care and aeromedical specialists operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year from ISOS Alarm Centers around the world. ISOS staff will seek to provide services within the provisions of available insurance coverage.

Since its founding in 1974, ISOS has performed thousands of evacuations and repatriations. Through the years ISOS has also developed the expertise necessary to provide service in remote areas of the world. See the ISOS website at
