Graduate Student Resource Center

Three Minute Thesis Competition

3MT ChallengeNow in its third year, the College of Graduate Studies invites all who are completing a dissertation or thesis to participate in the Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT).  Described by its founders at the University of Queensland, "3MT is a competition that measures and supports a student's capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience."   Students find this to be a necessary skill when faced with presenting their research to employers, colleagues and potential funders from various settings across and outside of academia.

One Outstanding Achievement award ($500) recipient and one Excellent Achievement award ($250) recipient will be selected. Both recipients will be recognized during the College of Graduate Studies Awards Reception in May.  The Outstanding Achievement award recipient will also represent CSU at the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools Annual Meeting 3MT Competition, April 4-6, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

To participate, eligible graduate students must e-mail Maribeth Kralik at m.a.kralik@csuohio.edu by noon on February 16, 2018.  Visit online for further information about the 3MT Student Competition scheduled for February 28, 2018.
