Cleveland State University is building on national trends, joining other universities that want to better understand and support multiple career options for doctoral students.
The Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) recently announced a new initiative to improve understanding of career pathways for current PhD students and alumni. Cleveland State University (CSU) is participating in this innovative CGS initiative as an affiliate partner institution. The project seeks to determine what types of careers PhDs pursue and examines their career trajectories after degree.
See preliminary survey results which will allow our university to better answer questions such as:
- What types of careers do our current PhDs/Doctoral students seek?
- What are the career trajectories of our PhD/Doctoral alumni? Are there differences by broad field?
- What are the skills needed to be successful in the various career pathways that our PhD/Doctoral alumni ultimately pursue?
