Batu K. Chalise received the M. S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, in 2001 and 2006, respectively.  He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Center for Advanced Communications, Villanova University, Villanova, PA, from 2010 to 2013. As a wireless systems research engineer with ArrayComm San Jose, CA, from 2013 to 2015, Dr. Chalise developed and implemented physical layer algorithms for the Long-term evolution (LTE) communication systems. He has held various research and teaching positions at the University of Duisburg-Essen, University of Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, and Villanova University, PA. Since August 2015, he is a visiting assistant professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Cleveland State University, OH.

His current research interests include signal processing and optimization for commercial and military communications, wireless sensor networks, and smart systems. Specifically, he is interested in energy harvesting networks, full-duplex communications, cognitive radios, massive MIMO, passive-radar systems, UAV networks, cooperative and opportunistic communications, resource allocation in multiuser MIMO systems, statistical signal processing, big data analysis, machine learning, and convex optimization.

Dr. Chalise is the author/co-author of 46 journal and conference articles in the areas of signal processing and communications. He is an associate Editor of EURASIP Journal of Wireless Communications and Networking since 2013. He has served as a Technical Program and Organizing Committee Member in various IEEE conferences and received an exemplary reviewer award from IEEE Communications Society in 2013. He is a Senior Member of IEEE.
