Co-op Program Guidelines

 

Application, Approvals & Eligibility

  • Be enrolled as a full-time student
  • Complete all courses through the second year, depending on major, to qualify for this program. For information about beginning program prior to completing freshman and sophomore courses, please contact the Fenn Co-op Office.
  • Be in good academic standing (not on probation) with a cumulative grade point average of 2.20 or better for application and for continuing participation in the program.
  • Complete ESC130 (Engineering Co-op Orientation) and earn a grade of satisfactory.
  • Transfer students must complete at least 8 credit hours of course work in the Washkewicz College of Engineering, plus meet the requirements of the Cooperative Education Program prior to their first assignment.
  • Students must have an approved resume. Contact the Fenn Co-op Office for assistance in resume preparation and approval via HandShake.
  • Student must be enrolled and an active participant in the Engineering Cooperative Education Program. Below are sample schedules that follow the alternating work study periods listed. For more information about completing the program in less than five years, contact the Fenn Co-op Office.

Co-op Assignments

  • The Fenn Co-op Office will identify meaningful work experiences for the student. If the student finds his/her own position, they must notify the Fenn Co-op Office. The Engineering Cooperative Education Program Manager will contact the student each semester.
  • Complete all required reports and paperwork on time.
  • The student must formally meet once a semester with his/her Faculty Mentor.
  • A minimum of 3 semesters of co-op experience is required to qualify as a graduate of the Engineering Cooperative Education Program.
  • A student can leave the program only with adequate notice and a meeting with a member of the Fenn Co-op Office staff.
