What is BIRT?
The purpose of the Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT) is to address reports of bias incidents in ways that support those most impacted, promote education and dialogue, and affirm Cleveland State University’s commitment to equity and diversity, free speech and academic freedom. The BIRT coordinates the University’s response, but does not have an investigative or disciplinary role.
On Tuesday, February 13, a legally blind student was robbed in front of Main Classroom on about 9:35pm. Suspect removed book bag and took cell phone. Maurice has already provided information to President Berkman about this incident, and will follow up with the President after the BIRT meeting. Diversity Leadership team will provide minutes to be disseminated to president and BIRT members.
