Continuing Education

Definition

Cleveland State University defines continuing education as any unit of teaching outside or beyond academic courses approved via faculty governance processes and published in university undergraduate or graduate catalogs.

Continuing Education encompasses but is not limited to instruction delivered in-person, online (synchronously or asynchronously), or in hybrid fashion related to staff development, short programs, professional development certificates, micro-learning events, executive leadership, workshops, conferences, lectures and all other knowledge-transfer, and training. Continuing education courses may or may not offer CEUs.
