Dr. Victor Liva, Associate Professor, Coordinator of String Studies and Conductor of Orchestras. Dr. Liva began his musical career as a violininst, studying first with his father, Ferdinand Liva, a well acclaimed conductor and violinist of the Northeastern Pennsylvania region. Throughout his academic and professional career he has studied with Dr. Min Soo Chang (undergraduate studies), Helen Kwalwasser (Temple University), Odin Rathnam (concertmaster of the Harrisburg Symphony), and Ryan Kho (concertmaster of the Augusta Symphony). Dr. Liva has served as assistant concertmaster of the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra, and is a former member of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, the Harrisburg Symphony, the Haddonfield Symphony, Augusta Symphony, Augusta Opera, Philadelphia Virtuosi, and others.

He holds degrees from Wilkes University,Temple University, and the University of South Carolina, where he earned the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Conducting under the tutelage of Donald Portnoy.

Dr. Liva has conducted various youth, college, and professional orchestras and held the position of Director of Orchestras at Northern Arizona University from 1999-2003. He has conducted festivals in Arizona, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Oregon. He is currently on the conducting staff at the Performing Arts Institute of Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, Pennsylvania and has been the music director of the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra since 2007.
