Cleveland State University is a proud sponsor of the 43rd Cleveland International Film Festival. The festival takes place March 27-April 7, and the program guide can be found here.

Read on to learn about free and discounted ticket opportunities at the festival for CSU students, faculty and staff.

Current CSU Students: FREE Screenings for You!

CIFF is offering FREE morning, matinee and late-night screenings to current students through its College Program. Present your valid CSU ID card for your free tickets, which will be available one hour before screen start times at the Will Call/Duke Desk (located in the walkway outside the Tower City Cinemas entrance). Free tickets are one ticket per filmgoer and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free film screenings during CIFF are as follows: 

  • Each weekday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Fridays and Saturdays after 11 p.m.

Use code COLLEGE to receive $1 off the ticket price for other festival screenings. Discounts are also available to students at the Box Office.

Faculty and Staff: Discounted Tickets

CSU faculty and staff members can enjoy $1 off tickets purchased for any screenings during the Film Festival.

  • Online – Use the code SPONSOR43 when you purchase tickets online at clevelandfilm.org (available 24 hours a day).
  • By Phone – Provide the code SPONSOR43 when you call the Film Festival Box Office at 877.304.FILM (3456).
  • At the Box Office – Provide the code SPONSOR43 when you purchase tickets at the CIFF Box Office, which is located inside the Tower City Cinemas lobby. Visit clevelandfilm.org for Box Office Hours.

Ticket prices before the discount are as follows:

  • $14 CIFF members
  • $16 Non-members
  • $14 Students and seniors 65+ (in-person purchase only)

This discount is good for any festival film screening. Restrictions may apply.

Filmmaker Visit

Don’t miss our free moderated conversation on Saturday, April 6, at 2:30 p.m. featuring Shaker Heights native and award-winning director Jamie Babbit. Babbit is the director of But I’m a Cheerleader, and will be honored during CIFF as its first DReam Catcher program participant and award recipient.

Sponsored Films with Introductions

Cleveland State University is proud to sponsor the Cleveland International Film Festival. CSU sponsors the following sidebars at the festival and CSU representatives will be giving introductions at most of these screenings:

In addition, CSU also sponsors the films for the Local Heroes competition. The Local Heroes is an annual celebration of films made about Ohio, in Ohio or by Ohioans. Based on audience vote, this year’s competition will yield a $7,500 cash prize to the winner announced at the closing night ceremony.
