Creative Voices Summit and Arts Education Day Luncheon

Each year CAI produces the Creative Voices Summit and Arts Education Day Luncheon. It is a one day, two part conference celebrating creativity across the disciplines. In cooperation with ideastream, The Creative Voices Summit (part 1) is held at the Idea Center and examines cross disciplinary approaches in the arts. Past topics include Dr. Larry Sherman’s performance based presentation Music and the Brain; panel discussions on Arts and Politics, Visionaries, What it Means to be a Creative City, and The Creative Mind.

The Arts Education Day Luncheon (part 2) is held on the stage of the State Theatre in Cleveland’s historic Playhouse Square. The Luncheon brings together representatives from every major arts organization in the area to advocate for and celebrate the primacy of arts in education, frequently to a sold out crowd of over 300 attendees. It is a fast paced, informative event that features performances by area school children followed by a well-known, nationally recognized keynote speaker. Past keynote speakers include writer Antwone Fisher; Music Director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Marin Alsop; NFL Hall of Famer and broadcaster, Lynn Swan; Harvard psychologist, Howard Gardner; MacArthur award winning actress and playwright, Anna Deavere Smith and notable celebrities such as Harry Belafonte, LeVar Burton, Ruby Dee, Richard Dreyfuss, Michael York, Ben Vereen, Shirley Jones and Rosie Perez.
