The Center for Arts and Innovation (CAI) is an initiative of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS). The Center for Arts and Innovation directs cultural and arts education programming while also undertaking and coordinating additional areas for study using Cleveland State University’s (CSU) own broad and impressive faculty and staff.

Creative process studies are a central facet of the Center with education the heart of everything it sponsors or produces. The programs presented by CAI continue CSU’s important contribution to our community’s cultural life through the auspices of the Center, fulfilling its dual mission of presenting top flight artistic talent with a focus on educational enrichment.

CAI brings thousands of people to the arts and programs of imagination each year through its broad array of events including the Kulas Series of Keyboard Conversations ® with Jeffrey Siegel, the annual Creative Voices Summit and Arts Education Day Luncheon, participation on the Executive Committee of the TEDx CSU program and the Cleveland Arts Education Consortium.

CAI was one of three final CSU programs selected for funding by the President's Initiative competition, which was designed to promote signature programs for the university and funded by CSU, the Cleveland Foundation and George Gund Foundation. Through CAI, CSU is represented on the Board of the Ohio Humanities Council, the Ohio office of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and CAI Director, Kay Shames, is incoming Board Chair for the Council.
