Education and Outreach
Opera for All education programs engage participants in an exploration of the art form including singing, acting, stage-craft, movement, music, opera history, vocal technique, technical theater and design.
Cleveland Opera Theater's Opera 101 program sets the stage for an active opera viewing experience. COT's teaching artists lead interactive workshops on operatic themes, concepts, conventions and plots. Seasoned opera-goers and newcomers alike are welcome to participate. Enjoy a performance by COT's professional singers following the workshop.
Cleveland Opera Theater's Distance Learning Broadcasts spark students' interest in careers in music and the arts, and in attending performances. Bring opera into your classroom, provide a gateway into the interdisciplinary world of opera with WVIZ/Ideastream Distance Learning Broadcasts hosted by Angela Mitchell. Pre-show intros are offered 60 minutes before curtain time in the Masonic Auditorium Grand Foyer. While enjoying refreshments from the lobby bar, enhance your experience at the opera, learn what to watch and listen for, and discover information about the composer, the opera plot and much more. Late arrivals welcome.
