MANY CONGRATULATIONS TO DR. BANKS!
Dr. Tachelle Banks, Chair of the Department of Teacher Education has been named one of 2016's Ten "Women of Influence" in the CSU Community by the Cleveland State University Office of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement. The women were nominated for the award and selected by a committee for their contributions to the betterment of the campus community and assistance to others in their personal and professional development.
In addition to this honor- Dr. Banks has also recently been promoted from Associate Professor to Full Professor! What an excellent accomplishment!
Dr. Anthony Menendez has been named one of two recipients of Cleveland State University College of Education and Human Services (CEHS)'s annual Technology Award. The CEHS Technology Committee, made up of eight faculty and staff and one student across four CEHS departments; the Center for Educational Technologies; the Education Student Services Center; the Dean’s Office; and Information Services and Technology, selected winners based on innovative use of technology between Spring 2015 and Fall 2016.
Dr. Menendez, an assistant professor in the Teacher Education Department and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D) and Certified Ohio Behavior Analyst (COBA), developed a road map to teach both undergraduate (Course No. ESE 411) and graduate (Course No. ESE 511) students to graph academic and/or behavioral data using Microsoft Excel versus the traditional hand-drawn method of graphing.
In order to implement the technology, Dr. Menendez recorded a step-by-step video demonstration of the Excel graphing method in the Cleveland State studio. He supplemented that video with a Word Document that students could download and utilize while viewing. Dr. Menendez was able to assess his students in the special education content area via a graphing assignment within Taskstream. The digital video task analysis served to gauge the ability of graduate students in the visual representation and analysis of graphed numerical data.
Excellent work Dr. Menendez!
