Preparing Students for Success - CCSS ELA Assessments

 Course Overview

Accountability measures require educators to prepare each student transitioning from their class to the next grade level to be at or above grade level. Without a doubt, this is a daunting task, especially with varying student abilities. Work with classroom teachers and reading specialists have shed light on practices (i.e., using assessment data—item analysis—to determine instructional activities) that may work against adequately preparing students for success on CCSS ELA assessments. While data can be used for meaningful decision making and action, educators should look to other strategies, especially when it comes to new ELA tests aligned to the Common Core.

This course provides educators and school leaders with research-recommended steps that are aligned to the requirements of CCSS, which will better prepare them and their students for success on CCSS ELA assessments.
