Flipped Learning: It's Easier Than It Sounds!

Flipped Learning

Course Overview

Educators understand the limited class time devoted to in-class learning on a daily basis. Higher order cognitive instructional activities can sometimes be compromised due to lack of in-class time. The Flipped Learning model provides a viable alternative to leverage in and outside class time to enhance student learning, for all students, and provide opportunities for higher order thinking that is supported in the presence of and by educators.

According to the Flipped Learning Network, 71 percent of teachers who flipped their classes noticed improved grades, and 80 percent reported improved student attitudes as a result.

This course is for educators of all levels. It is designed to provide participants with a beginning, middle, and end to flipped learning. That is: What is Flipped, What does Flipped Learning look like in practice, What research and theoretical frameworks underpin the Flipped Learning model, and What are the challenges and possible solutions as participants work to implement Flipped Learning in their classroom…all from someone who’ve had experience flipping the classroom in both K-12 and HE settings.

• Understand and be able to recognize Flipped Learning in the classroom.

• Know the research behind Flipped Learning.

• Understand and be able to apply the Flipped Learning design model.

• Know possible challenges and solutions to implementation.
