STEMM Education Center Professional Development Program Opportunities:

EiE
EiE workshops introduce you to engineering and show you how to foster student-centered, inquiry-based learning. Our workshops are designed to: increase your knowledge of engineering, technology, and the Engineering Design Process, introduce you to the EiE curriculum, explain the structure and format of EiE curriculum units, and enhance your ability to implement open-ended engineering design challenges with your students.

PBL 101
Find out why everyone is talking about Project-Based Learning (PBL), and see how you can use it to animate state standards and engage students in meaningful STEM units. Learn the basics of PBL, including how to plan and execute a PBL unit, and design a grade level appropriate project ready for implementation.
  Course Goals:
  - Introduce teachers to project based instruction and capstone/project design process
  - Identify grade level learning objectives across curriculum, and how to address these
    objectives through PBL
  - Design grade level appropriate capstone projects for implementation in fourth quarter

PBL 102
A major hurdle in implementing project-based curricula is that it requires simultaneous changes in curriculum, instruction and assessment practices – changes that are often foreign to practicing teachers.   In this professional development/course we will further develop an approach to designing, implementing and evaluating project-based curricula and processes for PBL curriculum development that have emerged from collaboration with PBL practicing teachers and researchers.
