With over 30 years of clinical experience Dr. Paula Hartman-Stein is a health care consultant, geropsychologist, educator and journalist covering Medicare and aging issues for The National Psychologist newspaper. She edited two books, Enhancing Cognitive Fitness in Adults and Innovative Behavioral Healthcare for Older Adults and published numerous book chapters and articles in peer reviewed journals on psychological issues of late life. She has worked in a range of healthcare settings including acute care hospitals, primary care, long term care facilities and independent practice. Her current academic appointments include Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Northeast Ohio Medical University, Senior Fellow at the Institute for Life Span Development and Gerontology at the University of Akron and adjunct faculty in the Integrated primary care certificate program at the U of Massachusetts Medical School. Currently Dr. Stein is a member of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine Task force in the older adults' working group on mental health and substance abuse.
