Grant Proposal Development

Course Description:

A hands-on grant writing course that is designed to engage the beginning grant writer in the proposal development process and immerse professionals in strategies for success. Students will learn how to customize case statements or program plans to match a specific grant maker's interest, write sections of a proposal and budget, draft an evaluation plan and articulate the scope of work for staff and subcontractors. Students will gain experience and skills by systematically developing a grant proposal, reviewing the work of professionals and peers and responding to feedback each step of the way.

Prerequisite:

Students must complete Introduction to Grant Writing prior to enrolling in this course. Completion of Introduction to Grant Writing can be done within 1 year prior to registering for this course.

Who Should Attend:

This course is for anyone interested in earning the Grant Writing Certificate including staff, administrators, volunteers, board members and consultants at nonprofit organizations, public or private educational institutions and government agencies. For-profit businesses seeking grants to fund research or training are welcome as are individual grant seekers such as artists, filmmakers or journalists.

Deploying systematic methods and strategies to plan, secure and integrate grants into a dynamic funding portfolio is essential for professionals in many industries, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, private and public education, foundations and research. This course covers the practical and conceptual aspects of the proposal development process that are critical to grant writing success.
