Points of Pride

Rebecca Norton

Rebecca NortonRebecca Norton is a Fall 2015 graduate of Cleveland State University. She graduated with her Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting and is currently employed with Ernst and Young. Along with her career at E&Y, she is taking a few classes at Cleveland State to complete the 150 credit hours needed for the CPA exam.

Rebecca is a longtime resident of the Cleveland area. She chose to continue her education at Cleveland State University because the campus was close to home and she was impressed by not only the university itself, but with the accounting program. Prior to starting her freshman year at CSU, she participated in career shadowking at Parker Hannifin in the accounting department which helped her to decide to pursue an Accounting major.

Rebecca credits family members and her work relationships to her success. “My boss Ed Kilbane has influenced me the most at Ernst & Young," she said. "He not only shares with me his experiences, but has also helped me tonetwork with other professionals in my field.”

Rebecca also credits Anne Nelson, Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies, to her success. Rebecca was employed in the College of Business during her undergraduate years under Anne and said “she is someone who will fight for you”.

As a proud alumnae of CSU, Rebecca calls the Monte Ahuja College of Business and CSU a “hidden gem” that “gives the best opportunities”. She credits the faculty and the advisors and believes that she would not have received any of her internships without the help of CSU. Rebecca participated in the Business Mentorship Program and says that it was helpful to her career because “the mentor talks to you about more than just what happens in the classroom”.
