MBA Alumnus Honored as 2016 University Hospitals Distinguished Advisor Award

Douglas Smorag, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Director of CM Wealth Advisors was honored as the 2016 University Hospital Distinguised Advisor Award recipient during the Diamond Advisory Group's annual meting on June 9th, 2016. The University Hospitals Distinguished Advisor Award was created to recognize annually a member of the Diamond Advisory Group for his or her commitment of generosity, foresight, and civic vision to the UH mission: To Heal. To Teach. To Discover.

Doug has been a member of the Diamond Advisory Group for 5 years. Doug’s ongoing support of philanthropic efforts benefiting University Hospitals and other charitable endeavors, combined with his tireless advocacy, helps make him highly respected by all who are fortunate enough to know him.

Prior to joining CM Wealth Advisors in 1998, Doug was President and Co-Founder of a regional certified public accounting firm. Doug has been a CPA for more than three decades and has held the related Personal Financial Specialist designation for nearly half of that. This formal education has allowed him to work closely with clients to develop and execute their comprehensive tax, financial, estate, and philanthropic plans. Doug currently serves as Trustee, Treasurer, and Director of a number of charitable foundations and associations. He is also past president of the Cleveland Area Family Exchange. Doug is an alumnus of Cleveland State State University, receiving his MBA in 1988.

The Diamond Advisory Group was created to inform legal, financial, and other wealth advisory professionals about University Hospitals and its philanthropic opportunities. Members of this prestigious volunteer group assist UH in fulfilling its mission as knowledgeable and informed ambassadors.
