Alyse Souza has earned her BBA in Accounting Degree with a 4.0 GPA and was named Valedictorian for the University's afternoon Commencement ceremony on May 13th, 2017. In April, she was named the recipient of the Cleveland Rotary Club's Rotary Award of Excellence in Accounting that honors outstanding business graduates from the Monte Ahuja College of Business. 

During her time here at Cleveland State, Alyse served as Project Manager of Beta Alpha Psi, was the CSU representative at the IMA Leadership Conference, participated in Peoples Bank Business Case Competition, attended the Beta Alpha Psi regional meeting and volunteered to visit many local high schools to promote accounting as a profession and student involvement.

Alyse is a Junior Achievement and VITA volunteer, tutors for the Accounting Department and helped implement a student-led tutoring program. She has also helped Beta Alpha Psi establish an affiliation with the Hope 4 Honduran Children Foundation, a local Cleveland charity with a global mindset.

Alyse is a non-traditional transfer student. She previously studied at the University of New Hampshire where she was defensive captain of the Division I women's volleyball team for three seasons.

After graduation, in August 2017, Alyse will travel to Anaheim, California to participate in Project Run With It, a service project that assists nonprofits with strategic planning and problem-solving so that organizations can better serve their communities.

In Fall 2017, Alyse will continue her studies, pursuing an MBA and Business Analytics Certificate at Cleveland State University. During this time, she will serve as the Graduate Assistant Accounting tutor as well as sit for the CPA exam. She has been named Beta Alpha Psi President for the 2017-2018 academic year and Student President of Beta Gamma Sigma. She will continue to serve on the College's Diversity Council and plans to launch a peer-to-peer mentoring program for diverse students to help them navigate the challenges of adjusting to and being successful in post-secondary education.

A proud member of the Accounting and Finance Women's Alliance, she is also a member of the Accounting Association, Golden Key International Honour Society, IMA Honors Society, OSCPA and AICPA. Alyse's most cherished role is that of mother to two sons, Jayce and Ryder, spending her free time taking them to Indians games and watching them excel on the soccer and baseball fields.
