Ohio Continuing Higher Education Association (OCHEA) Honors the Professional Development Center at CSU with the Program Excellence Award
The Professional Development Center within the Monte Ahuja College of Business at Cleveland State University has received the 2016 Program Excellence Award presented by the Ohio Continuing Higher Education Association (OCHEA).
The Program Excellence Award is designed to recognize individuals and their institutions that are making significant contributions to continuing higher education in Ohio through excellent program development. Programs must have been implemented or significantly modified within the past year and are chosen based upon quality, excellence and positive community impact.
Over the past year, the Professional Development Center at CSU has redesigned its curriculum and course offerings around competency-based education, which requires students to learn through application with hands-on curriculum and to complete course assessments in order to deliver short-term courses and programs that provide increased learning retention.
“We apply the same Engaged Learning™ principles that Cleveland State University is known for to all of our continuing education courses,” explains Toni Paoletta, Manager of the Professional Development Center. “Competency-based education insures that students and their employers get the most out of their educational investment. When students successfully complete our courses, they can immediately demonstrate the skills they learned and apply them in the workplace.”
“We are honored that the Professional Development Center has been recognized for their efforts,” said Richard Reed, Ph.D., Dean of the Monte Ahuja College of Business at CSU. "This recognition is a testament to the high quality courses and the changes that Toni has made to the Center during her tenure at CSU.”
The Professional Development Center offers courses in Accounting & Finance, Business Management, Human Resources and Organizational Development, Information Technology, Leadership, Sales and Marketing. Courses are delivered in a classroom setting or online depending upon the course.
The Center also provides custom learning solutions for organizations wishing to invest in upgrading the skills of their workforce.
