The Center for Faculty Excellence promotes innovative teaching and leadership through workshops, video presentations, and individualized services. We work with faculty to develop their talent and advance their outcomes, processes, and engagement with CSU students and the University community. The Center for Faculty Excellence also welcomes new faculty, providing orientation to University resources and support at all stages of their careers.

Ohio’s College Credit Plus (CCP) initiative offers families the chance to save college tuition and students the ability to save valuable time. Qualified students in grades 7-12 take college courses from either community colleges or universities; they earn college credits while also fulfilling high school requirements. The interaction with college students, faculty, and staff prepares students for future college-level work.

The Exploratory Advising Office provides academic advising and academic support services for students who are undecided about their academic major or academic plan. This Office also serves students who do not immediately meet the academic requirements for admission directly into the academic college of their choice.

Three extended campuses and partnerships (Lakeland Community College, Lorain County Community College, and the West Center in Westlake) offer Cleveland State University degree programs to students. Each location includes student services, advising, coordination of academic classes, and liaisons between faculty and students.

The Director of General Education works across all of the university's colleges and departments to ensure that students, faculty, and staff all understand the goals, objectives, and value of General Education. The Director assists faculty with developing new and revising existing General Education courses and partners with the University Curriculum Committee in the review and approval process for those courses. The Director oversees the number of course offerings so that enough sections of General Education courses are taught to meet students' needs and ensures the quality of those courses.

The KeyBank Scholars Program supports all Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) graduates who are enrolled at the university to increase students’ retention and on-time completion rates by developing academic, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The KeyBank Scholars Program promotes a sense of community for the CMSD graduates by creating social and cultural programming opportunities. First-year KeyBank Scholars Program participants have early access to a success network of students, faculty, and staff. CMSD transfer students enjoy the same services to support their transition to Cleveland State University.

(Re)Connect to College supports “comeback” students in earning their first degree. Our mission is to recruit, retain and graduate students in the Cleveland area who have previously stopped out of any college or university before completing their undergraduate program. Our dedicated staff members seek to assist students in overcoming obstacles related to re-enrollment and directing them toward the appropriate student services – including financial aid, academic support, advising and more. This program is the result of an APLU grant-funded collaboration between CSU and College Now Greater Cleveland.

The Transfer Center promotes a smooth transition to CSU for prospective transfer students pursuing their first degree. Our staff helps students explore bachelor degree programs, learn which credits transfer, verify accurate course selections, and connect to essential and elective resources. Appointments are available in-person, over the phone, or at any Tri-C location. Students can also request electronic evaluations.

TRIO/SSS services help first-generation college and/or low-income students progress toward graduation by providing opportunities for academic development, assistance with college requirements, and the motivation and support needed to complete a college degree. The TRIO/Student Support Services (SSS) Program is grant funded through the U.S. Department of Education and has been part of the Cleveland State University campus for over 47 years.

The Tutoring and Academic Success Center (TASC) uses research-based strategies and approaches for learning in order to help students achieve their academic goals and ultimately to graduate. The informal, student-centered environment assists students to achieve academically and integrate socially into college life. TASC’s student success programs include: group tutoring, success coaching, Supplemental Instruction (SI), Structured Learning Assistance (SLA), and eTutoring.

The Undergraduate Inclusive Excellence Coaching (UIEC) department provides wrap-around support services for first-year college students for a smooth transition onto the CSU campus. The UILEC department currently operates with four Graduation Coaches whose primary roles are to eliminate barriers, build relationships, collaborate, and connect students to services on the CSU campus.
