SMG is the industry leader in management of arena/stadium/convention center facilities in the world. There are over 220 facilities currently being managed by SMG. The Wolstein Center has been managed by SMG for Cleveland State University for the last nine years. We are currently looking for 2-4 dedicated interns to learn in a “real world” work environment. The internships will work in all aspects associated with the implementation of marketing of events and assist the Marketing Director in the production of programs for the arena, sponsorship sales Group Sales, and Conference Center marketing.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the development of increased revenue streams by implementing new and exciting promotional concepts for various concerts and events.
  • Cold calling to area businesses, local groups/organizations, and individuals to sell groups, and VIP/corporate outing ticket packages for concerts and events.
  • Assist in the development of marketing/sales campaigns, and advertisement schedules for arena events.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining social networking sites, Facebook/My Space, direct mail lists and email campaigns using demographic and market research/analysis.
  • Develop press releases and public/community relations activities for arena and upcoming events.
  • Plan and implement grass roots marketing programs for the Conference Center, identifying prospects for meetings, seminars, and banquets.
  • Continue to develop programs to market arena/events to CSU students, faculty, and staff.
  • Facilitate corporate sponsorship sales by providing research, and development of sponsorship proposals.
  • Additional office duties as assigned by Marketing/Sales Director.

EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate must be a recent graduate, or working towards a BS/BA in Business, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have proven ability to create effective relationships and have good verbal, writing and editing skills, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to plan strategically. The selected candidate will have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, skills in project management and the ability to generate ideas and think creatively. Strong computer knowledge with a background in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Powerpoint a plus. Submit resumes to mike.sedlak@csuohio.edu
