About
The Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs is proud to announce the 2016-2017 Mentoring class. This year, we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the program which is comprised of 42 students and 47 mentors. The Mentoring Program is designed to create professional connections with the region’s top administrators from across Northeast Ohio. Our mentors hold appointed or elected office and graciously give of their time to help develop the next generation of leaders.

The program runs from November 2016 through April 2017. During this time, students gain access and insight via monthly interactions with their mentor and participate in a number of activities including shadowing, informational interviews, networking opportunities, resume review and general support in their chosen career path.

The program founder, Senator Grace Drake, and her team invest a significant amount of time in identifying the career aspirations of each student and personally match students to their respective mentors. Senator Drake stated, “I want to find the best of the best of the available mentors for our students so that if they are only half as successful in their own career, they will exceed their wildest expectations.”

Newly appointed Dean Roland Anglin, participated in this year’s kick-off dinner. When asked about the program he said, “The Mentoring Program is an important arrow in the Levin quiver. The advice and nurturing that students receive from important leaders in Northeast Ohio is invaluable. We have a true jewel here and we need to make sure this great opportunity is around for a long time.”
