ESL 095 Speaking & Listening for the College Classroom (2-0-2). No prerequisites; placement by ESL Program Director recommended. An integrated skills approach to communicative competence in academic English as a Second Language; pronunciation and classroom discussion skills, as well as academic listening comprehension, are the focus of this course. Aural and oral skills will be practiced through classroom activities and discussion. Return to top
ESL 096 Advanced ESL (4-0-4). No prerequisites; placement by ESL Program Director recommended. An integrated skills approach to communicative competence in academic English as a Second Language; analysis of Western rhetorical patterns and advanced college-level writing with an emphasis on grammar and vocabulary building. Advanced academic listening comprehension, and speaking are practiced through classroom discussion. Return to top
