TRIO/STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES PROGRAM 

The Student Support Services (SSS) Program is one of 8 TRIO grant funded programs offered through the U.S. Department of Education and has been part of the Cleveland State University Campus for over 50 yearsThe TRIO/SSS Program is designed to help first - generation college and/or low-income students progress toward graduation. TRIO/SSS provides opportunities for academic development, assistance with college requirements and the motivation and support needed to complete a college degree! 

Eligibility requirements 

  1. FIRST GENERATION COLLEGE STUDENT: Neither parent nor guardian received a bachelor's degree; and/or
  2. Low-income based on federal income guidelines
  3. Enrolled or accepted for enrollment at Cleveland State University
  4. U.S. citizen and/or legal permanent resident
  5. Demonstrated academic need as determined by TRIO/SSS

VISION

Through a collaborative, holistic approach, the TRIO/Student Support Services Program has the primary purpose to encouarge and enhance engaged student learning and motivate students towards the achievement of a baccalaureate degree.

In order to reach my goals, I have to believe in me. Today, I will no longer live in fear, resist change or stop dreaming. I will become what I dream today!

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Through a grant competition, funds are awarded to institutions of higher education to provide opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements, and to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. Student Support Services (SSS) projects also may provide grant aid to current SSS participants who are receiving Federal Pell Grants. The goal of SSS is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants.
