MAGNET BENEATH THE LAND
By Michael Katz
Is there a magnet way beneath the land?
A force so strong, so many take a stand
Empires and nations have all claimed the right
To conquer and govern and when necessary, fight
Promises were made and broken
Declarations went unspoken
Till finally a price was paid
Six million graves were newly laid
The cost for a people without a nation
Had G-d now finally granted salvation
To survive and continue the war must be won
But the fiercest of battles had only begun
Independence had finally been attained
But peace was the question that still remained
50 Years on and the questions still there
In a land not so desolate, ragged or bare
The force of the magnet pulls harder than ever
Beneath the land that will be forever
