National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Fraternities

ALPHA PHI ALPHA: The Alphas were the first intercollegiate fraternity established for Black students in 1906 at Cornell and strive to foster close association and unified support among Black students, and encourage good character, sound scholarship and service. Their motto is “first of all, service to all, we shall transcend all.” Distinguished ALPHA’s: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Thurgood Marshall, Duke Ellington and W.E.B. DuBois. www.alphaphialpha.net

IOTA PHI THETA: The Iotas were established in 1963 at Morgan State University and the CSU colony was chartered in 1999. This fraternity believes in “building a tradition, not resting upon one” and works to develop and perpetuate scholarship, leadership, citizenship, fidelity and brotherhood among men. Famous IOTA’s: Spencer Christian, Bobby Rush, Elvin Hayes. www.iotaphitheta.org

KAPPA ALPHA PSI: This fraternity was established at Indiana University in 1911 and believe in “training for leadership.” Their purpose is to encourage achievement by uniting men of culture, patriotism, and honor for mutual support. Distinguished KAPPA’s are Tom Bradley, Arthur Ashe, Wilt Chamberlain, Rev Leon Sullivan. www.kappaalphapsi1911.com

OMEGA PSI PHI: This NPHC Fraternity was founded in 1911 at Howard University and believe that “friendship is essential to the soul.” They strive to foster friendship and to demonstrate manhood through affirmative social interaction in order to uplift all men. Famous OMEGA’s are Langston Hughes, Bill Cosby, Reverend Jesse Jackson, and astronaut Charles Bolden. www.omegapsiphifraternity.org

PHI BETA SIGMA: Phi Beta Sigma was founded in 1914 at Howard University under the mission of “culture for service, service for humanity.” Their purposes are to promote brotherhood and community service and to pursue academic excellence. Distinguished SIGMA’s: George Washington Carver, Jerry Rice, Dr. James Weldon Johnson and Scottie Pippin. www.pbs1914.org

North American Interfraternity Conference Fraternities

DELTA SIGMA PHI: This fraternity was re-colonized in 2004 and had been a part of the CSU-Fenn College landscape since 1929. Since its re-establishment, it has emerged as one of the significant leaders on the CSU campus life scene. Their motto of "Better Men, Better Lives," more than adequately describes its mission at CSU and in the community. Sweeping Student Life Accolades last year, Delta Sigma Phi was awarded Student Organization Service Award (SOSA), Student Organization Leadership Award (SOLA), and Student Organization of the Year Award (SOYA). No other group has ever done that at CSU. GO BIG, GO DELTA SIG.

SIGMA TAU GAMMA: The Beta Upsilon Chapter founded at CSU in 1961 originated at Central Missouri State in 1920 and is an international brotherhood of men based on value, learning, leadership, excellence, benefit and integrity. Distinguished alums: Stan Musial and William Hardebeck.

TAU KAPPA EPSILON: Founded in 1899 at Illinois Wesleyan University “to aid college men in mental, moral and social development, the TEKES offer men the opportunity to develop as leaders and prepares them to use those skills during their lifetime. Famous TKEs: Ronald Reagan, Elvis Presley and Les Paul.

Independent National Fraternities

PHI DELTA PSI: The purpose of the organization shall be to establish and maintain a CSU chapter of Phi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc. Our chapter shall promote superior scholarship as a basis for intellectual achievement and enhance our members’ ability to take leadership positions in society.
