Camp Vike FAQs

  • Is Camp Vike for me?
    Yes! If you are an incoming freshman, you are highly encouraged to attend Camp Vike. Be sure to apply as soon as possible to guarantee your spot.  Spots are limited. There is a $35 fee to hold your spot.
     
  • Why Should I attend?
    If you are interested in learning about Cleveland State University and want to meet people before the first day of class, then Camp Vike is the place for you! You will learn about many things to do on and off campus, how to get involved in campus activities, the numerous academic support services and resources available to you on campus.

    Camp Vike creates a family within your freshman class. You may make friends that last a lifetime and you get the opportunity to connect with upperclassmen, faculty and staff that will have the answers and knowledge to help you be successful at CSU.
     
  • Where is Camp Vike?
    Camp Vike is at Beulah Beach located in Vermillion Ohio (https://www.beulahbeach.org/guestgroups). The campsite has running water and full facilities although you will need to bring your own linens including sheets, blankets, pillows and towels. We will NOT be sleeping in tents on the ground.

  • When is Camp Vike?
    Camp Vike will be Monday August 10, 2015- Wednesday August 12, 2015.  We will depart from CSU’s Student Center Atrium at 9am  and  return Wednesday by 4pm.
     
  • What do I need to bring?
    A complete packing list can be found here: https://www.csuohio.edu/studentlife/packing-list. Fitted sheets are provided for each bed, however CV attendees must provide their own blanket/sleeping bag and pillow. Sneakers or other closed toed shoes and socks are required in order to participate in the high and low ropes courses. Lastly, please note that Beulah Beach requires all females to wear conservative bathing suites, meaning no bikinis. If you wear a bikini you will be asked to wear a t-shirt or tank top over your swimsuit. 
     
  • What types of activities are there to do at Beulah Beach?
    • Swimming (pool and Lake Erie)
    • Challenge courses including high and low ropes
    • Zip Lining
    • Giant Swing
    • Paddle boating
    • Sand volleyball
    • Nightly bonfires
  • How much does it cost? 
    Camp Vike costs $35 for three days and two nights at Beulah Beach. All transportation (to and from CSU), meals and activities are provided.  Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.  This is a nonrefundable fee.
  • How do I apply to Camp Vike?
    Fill out the online application

Instructions for online application: Registration for Camp Vike will be completed on OrgSync. In order to complete the form, you must create an OrgSync account. Your username is your student ID number, and your password is the same one you created for CampusNet, BlackBoard, etc. You can login into OrgSync here: http://orgsync.com/login/csuohio. To access the Camp Vike application directly, use this url: https://orgsync.com/90878/forms/100636. Or you can type “Camp Vike Application – Freshmen 2015” in the search bar.

Mail a completed wavier form and $35 check or cash to: Camp Vike Student Center 319, 2121 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH 44115-2214

Please note the $35 fee is non-refundable. The fee covers all transportation to and from CSU, housing, all meals and snacks, and daily activities. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify. Please email campvike@csuohio.edu with any questions or concerns. 

  • When and how will I be notified if I’m accepted into Camp Vike?
    Once we received your completed application with your waiver and fee, you will be notified of your acceptance into Camp Vike via the email address you provided on your application.  To check on the status of your application, please e-mail campvike@csuohio.edu
     
  • When/Where do I check in for camp?
    You will check in for Camp Vike in the atrium of the Student Center on Monday August 10 at 9:00 a.m.  We will depart for Camp Vike by 10:00 a.m. – so don’t be late! A light breakfast will be provided.
