NIRSA Region III Lead On

Welcome to Region III Lead On!

Welcome to the 29th NIRSA Region III Student Lead On hosted by Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio! The Planning Committee and Cleveland State University are excited to welcome you to the wonderful city of Cleveland, Ohio, on January 28th - 30th. We believe Region III to be the leaders of collegiate recreation within the NIRSA organization where we strive to Discover, Grow, and Sustain. This year we wanted to take a step forward and focus on our Discovery for new processes, our Growth in the region as current or future professionals, and finally, our Sustainability efforts to continue to provide a future for the following generations. We wanted our logo this year to outline those qualities: to continuously Discover and Grow, but most importantly to educate on the importance to Sustain. It is our mission to provide the most valuable experience to attendees while committing to sustainable efforts during the planning process and providing education about what YOU can do to be more mindful about the future. Whether it is social, economic, or environmental, there are endless opportunities to be more inclusive, develop new resources, and even reduce your carbon footprint in the field of collegiate recreation and beyond. We hope you leave Region III Student Lead On with a better understanding of sustainability, but also with a drive to continue to improve yourself as a professional in our region.

Please join us for a tour of Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Playhouse Square is the second largest performing arts center in the United States (the largest is the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City which many refer to as "Broadway"). Playhouse Square was constructed in the early 1920's in the span of 19 months and it now welcomes more than 1 million guests to more than 1000 performances each year. Its Broadway Series makes it one of the few performing arts centers in the country to support a two-week run of a touring Broadway show. Playhouse Square consists of nine theatres (Allen Theatre, Connor Palace, Hanna Theatre, The Helen Rosenfeld Lewis Bialosky Lab Theatre, Kennedy's Cabaret, Ohio Theatre, Outcalt Theatre, State Theatre, and Westfield Insurance Studio Theatre) and the tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and will include views and history of the lobbies, auditoriums, and backstage areas.  Due to nature of the performing arts industry each tour is unique depending on the time of year, day of the week and specific performances showing in each theatre.  While the tour will attempt to provide access to as many of the theatres as possible it cannot be guaranteed.

Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex Tour:
FREE and limited to 60 Professionals of Lead On (Registration if FULL)
Meeting location will be in Student Center 301
2:00pm - 4:30pm
Update as of Wednesday, January 6: The group will only be able to tour Quicken Loans Arena. Progressive Field is currently a "hard hat" only area and the Indians operations staff does not feel it is safe for large groups to be touring inside of the ballpark.  Progressive Field is currently in Phase 2 of 2 of their two year master renovation plan.  Currently, the ballpark is installing an improved stadium sound system, HVAC system, stat boards, restaurants/concessions, and a 59 feet x 221 feet - 13,000 square foot high definition scoreboard.  We apologize in advance for not being able to host the full tour.

Please join us for the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex tour of Quicken Loans Arena and Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Quicken Loans Arena, commonly known as "The Q", is the home of the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL), and the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League (AFL).  The Q is the primary entertainment facility for the region and the home of the Cavaliers as the primary concert and athletic venue in downtown Cleveland. Quicken Loans Arena seats 20,562 people in its basketball configuration and up to 20,056 for ice hockey, making it the 3rd largest arena in the NBA by seating capacity and the 7th largest in total capacity.
