  • Registration can occur in person at the Main Welcome Desk in Recreation Center or by phone with a credit card.

Class Descriptions for Safety Classes


CPR/AED- Adult, Child & Infant with First Aid

This class will prepare individuals to recognize and respond to emergency situations. Participants will learn basic care for injuries and sudden illness as well as how to respond appropriately to breathing and cardiac emergencies for people of all ages.

CPR for the Professional Rescuer
Certification for job-related emergency response for professional rescuers including two-person CPR and resuscitation mask and bag-valve mask use. This class satisfies requirements for nursing students.

NEW Sport Injury Prevention and First Aid with CPR/AED Adult
Includes instruction on sports-related injury prevention, first aid and adult CPR with AED. Developed in partnership with the United States Olympic Committee, the course is recommended for coaches, sports officials and parents of athletes.

Lifeguard Training
A comprehensive Lifeguard Training Program in Water Rescues, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Skills. The course will include classroom and water activities to prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. Taught by Certified Instructors following the ARC curriculum.

Water Safety Instructor
Training for Instructor candidates to organize and conduct American Red Cross courses in water safety including Learn to Swim, Parent & Child Aquatics, Basic Water Rescue, and Water Safety Presentations. Participants must be 16 years of age on or before the final scheduled class. The participants must be able to perform the Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Elementary Backstroke, Breaststroke, Sidestroke and Butterfly at Level 4 standards. They must also be able to float on their back for 1 minute and tread water for 1 minute.
