Enrollment Process

Option 1:
1) Register online: temporarily unavailable.
2) Download and complete the forms below.
3) Email the forms to Andrew Morreale at or drop off the forms to the CSU Rec Center.

Option 2:
1) Download and complete the forms. Registration Packets are also available at the Recreation Center.
2) Drop off the forms and pay the deposit at the Recreation Center during building hours.

Option 3:
1) Download and complete the forms.

10 weeks of fun, games, crafts, and friends. Make sure your kids get enrolled for an exciting summer camp experience. We have limited spots available.

Cleveland State University's Summer Camp program offers 10 consecutive weeks of diverse, theme-based programming. Activities are designed to incorporate active games, creative crafts, and much more. The camp weeks filled up last year and are limited to the first 64 campers and 8 Leaders in Training. Sign up today with a weekly deposit. The deadline to register for all programs is the Wednesday prior to each week of camp. Camp is from 9am-4pm.

The Leaders in Training program is for 13-14 year olds (12 year olds admitted following a written evaluation). These LITs will be more involved in planning their activities for the week as well as assisting counselors with daily activities. They will lead campers in an activity each week as a group by planning, setting up, and leading the activity. LITs will also receive skills instruction each week that is listed in the weekly themes. Each participant must maintain a certain standard to continue in the program. Individuals with poor behavior will be moved to a younger age group or removed from the program with no refund.

Weekly Cost

Deposit*: $35 per week, per child
Affiliate: $120**
Community: $140***
Discounts: 10% off for additional sibling. (Please note we are not part of the state or public assistance voucher program.)

The price of camp includes the $35 deposit to hold the child's spot in camp. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferrable.

**Affiliate Rate Eligibility.
1. The legal parent or guardian is an undergraduate student or higher level.
2. The legal parent or guardian is an employee working for CSU
3. The legal parent, guardian, or child is a member of the Recreation Center. A member must be a dues paying member for the 4 previous consecutive months or must purchase 4 upcoming consecutive months in full to qualify for the member indicated rate. .

***Community Eligibility.
1. Anybody who is not an Affiliate.
2. Campus International Students receive Community Eligibility unless the parent is affiliated with the university as listed above.

Camp Ages

Summer Camp: K-12 years
Leaders in Training: 13-14 years
Participants must have completed Kindergarten and be enrolling in 1st grade prior to attending camp. Participants must also be 14 or younger prior to the start of the week. Twelve year olds may be admitted to LIT program after receiving a written evaluation in day camp to determine their ability to successfully participate in the program.

2014 Summer Schedule

Viking Pride // Week 1: June 9-June 13
Start the summer out right with a weeklong competition between the campers. We will split into two teams and see who comes out on top. This week will be packed full of games and races to determine which team has the most Viking spirit.

LIT: Leaders in Training will learn the proper skills and techniques involved in performing CPR.

Aspiring Artists // Week 2: June 16-June 20
Campers will have the opportunity to express themselves in many creative ways. Activities will include a number of different crafts ranging from sidewalk art to painting. Don't miss out on a week that is sure to inspire each camper's imagination.

LIT: Leaders in Training will learn proper etiquette and table manners for any formal setting.

Cleveland Olympics // Week 3: June 23-June 27
Even though the Winter Olympics were a few months ago, that competitive spirit is here to stay. Campers will be split into teams/countries of their choice and compete in multiple sporting events to see who takes home the gold.

LIT: Leaders in Training will learn what it takes to be a referee for a number of different sports.

Counselor's Pick // Week 4: June 30-July 3 (4 days)
It's the Fourth of July week, so we're going to let the counselors show their independence by having them pick the activities for the week. Join them as they lead the campers in their favorite games and crafts.

LIT: Leaders in Training will exercise with a fitness professional and get nutritional advice from our dietician.

Splash Attack // Week 5: July 7-July 11
Take a break from the heat and get geared up for a week packed with water-themed games. You'll be sure to get wet so bring an extra pair of clothes.

LIT: Leaders in Training will participate in learning different water safety skills.

The Amazing Race // Week 6: July 14-July 18
Take a trip around the world this week as campers race against other teams and the clock as they travel from country to country. Each team will be racing to different checkpoint each day in an effort to be the first to reach their final destination.

LIT: Leaders in Training will be learning different basic skills that will help with your next outdoor adventure.

Blast from the Past // Week 7: July 21-July 25
Take a step back through time as we explore past decades and the cultural influences that made them so iconic. We'll kick off the week with the Roaring 20s on Monday, the 50s on Tuesday, 60s on Wednesday, and the 70s on Thursday. Finally, we will wrap up the week on Friday with the 80s and a righteous dance party. Feel free to dress up each day to really get into the time traveling spirit.

LIT: Leaders in Training will learn different self-defense tactics.

CSI (Camp Scene Investigation) // Week 8: July 28-August 1
Bust out your sleuthing skills this week as everyone tries to solve a camp-wide mystery. Campers will try their hand at finger printing and a number of other case-cracking techniques. Come see if you've got what it takes to be the next super sleuth.

LIT: Leaders in training will learn first aid skills.

Ahoy, Matey // Week 9: August 4-August 8
Pirates, sea creatures, and water themed activities will be abundant as we explore everything that our oceans have to offer. Games and crafts will be water themed so be prepared to get wet.

LIT: Leaders in Training will be introduced to kayaking with an emphasis on safety, enjoyment, and skills.

Cleveland's Got Talent // Week 10: August 11-August 15
Come and show off what you've got this week as everyone is encouraged to showcase their talents. After a week full of singing and dancing, we'll wrap up the summer with a live performance. There will be no swimming or Camp Swim Lessons this week.

LIT: Leaders in Training will spend the week learning the basics of various languages.

Camp Staff & Safety

Safety is our top priority for your camper. All Camp Staff is First Aid/ AED/ CPR certified and we maintain a camper to staff ratio of 8:1. We also ask for identification upon picking up your camper.

Alternative Programming

Fit and Fun // 7:30-9am // Price: $13/week
This is a program that takes place before the camp day begins. The focus of the program is to provide time for your child to take part in fitness related games and activities.

Stay and Play // 4-5:30pm // Price $13/week
Stay and Play is an alternative program for a child after camp. This gives the child more time at the Rec to focus on games and learn the rules of sports.

Camp Swim Lessons // 4-5:30pm // Price $27/week
We are offering swim lesson courses that take place Monday to Thursday for 40 minutes between 3-4:30pm. Children will be placed in a swim lesson time based upon ability and will complete the lesson by 4:30pm. Please allow 15 minutes for the child to change after the lesson has ended. In addition to swim lesson instruction, your child will also be enrolled in Stay and Play at no additional charge. The deadline to register is the Wednesday prior to the camp week.

Additional Information

Camp Pickup Line (Free)
We offer a service from 3:30pm-5:30pm where you may call ahead to have your child ready for pickup. This will save you 5-10 minutes every day so that we can have your child gather their belongings and be ready at the checkout table. The phone number is 216-802-3311 and it is only answered between 3:30pm-5:30pm.
