Student Membership Explanations

Full-Time Student

Students registered for 8 hours are typically assessed the Student Service Fee which supports Rec Center programs. These students are automatically Rec Center members and may enter the Rec Center facility with their Viking card. Those with fewer hours or who are exempt from the Service Fee may. During the summer, Rec Center may sell student memberships to those not assessed the Service Fee.

Part-Time Student

Students that are taking 1 to 7 credit hours during the current semester.

Off-Semester Student

Students previously enrolled in the past semester, but not for the current semester. These students are eligible for the off semester rate for one semester. Continuing education, non-degree and guest students are not eligible for the off-semester rate. Off-Semester students are eligible to purchase a Recreation Center Parking Pass.

Spouse/Partner/Dependent

Spouse, partner and dependents of students may purchase a monthly or semester membership at a matching rate (e.g. $84.00 per semester for spouse/partner of full-time, part-time, or graduate student); proof of joint financial responsibility or a marriage license is required; or an affidavit of domestic partnership form on file with Cleveland State Human Resources, along with verifying identification for the student and spouse/partner. Dependents of students aged 16-22 may purchase a membership at the matching rate.

Single-Entry Passes

All part-time students (undergraduate students taking less than eight credit hours or graduate/law students taking less than eight credit hours) may purchase a single-entry pass for themselves for $7. A valid Viking Card is required for entrance. A guest may accompany these individuals by purchasing a $7 guest pass. All passes can be purchased at the Chester Avenue Welcome Desk. Passes are valid for one entry into the facility.

Eligibility

The voluntary student rate is available to part-time and graduate students at Cleveland State. All continuing education, non-degree and guest students may purchase a membership at the appropriate rate.
