
The M.S. in Health Sciences is a post-professional degree designed to prepare individuals for emerging leadership roles in the rapidly changing health care environment and to enhance opportunities for advancement in clinical, educational and administrative areas. Emphasis is on independent, self-directed learning and the development of diverse roles.
This program is intended for practicing health care professionals. Courses are offered evenings and weekends for part-time students. The program has a core of five courses. In addition, it requires three courses in an area of emphasis, three electives and a capstone research project or thesis. The three areas of emphasis are: professional practice, education and management. Students may petition to create individualized areas of emphasis.
The M.S.H.S. also may be combined with one of CSU's certificate programs. These currently include: Advanced Study in Bioethics; Culture, Communication, and Health Care; Ergonomics/Human Factors; Gerontological Studies, Health Care Administration and Occupational and Physical Therapy in the Schools.
