Chemistry Contests     ●     Poster Contest

As part of the National Chemistry Week 2009 celebration and in recognition of its theme, "Chemistry - It's Elemental ", the American Chemical Society is sponsoring a poster contest for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. The poster should be fun, motivational and inspire students to learn about one or more elements in the periodic table.

Click here for guidelines from the National ACS

Winners will be selected in the following categories:

The Cleveland Section American Chemical Society will select ONE winner in each age group to receive a $25 cash prize.  Winners, their parents, and their teachers will be invited to be our guests at the Cleveland Section ACS Education Night Meeting in April 2010.  At that time, the student winners will be recognized and presented with their prizes.

The winning posters will also be sent on for competition at the National ACS level.  First prize is typically $250 and second prize is $150. There are also prizes for teachers of winning students. Don't think it's not worth trying; Cleveland already had one first prize national winner in the past; you could be next!

EDUCATORS:  Find important information about this contest's connections to chemistry and alignment to the National Science Education Standards at http://chemistry.org/ncw.
