Corey received her B.A. degree in English with a minor in Secondary Education from Kent State University while a member of the Honors College. She loved the collegiate environment so much that she decided to stay and make a career of it. Thus, she pursued a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration and Student Personnel. She has worked in the field of residence life at Kent State University, Xavier University, and The University of Akron prior to becoming an academic advisor at Cleveland State University in 2002. Corey still pursues her love of literature and language by teaching for the English department part time in addition to her advising duties.

David is a two-time graduate of Cleveland State University.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1995 followed by a Master of Education (Adult Learning and Development) in 2002.  He is also a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) sanctioned by the State of Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board.

Prior to joining Cleveland State in November, 2002, David worked at Cuyahoga Community College in the Workforce and Economic Development Division. Since joining CSU, he has served as an academic advisor for TRIO/Student Support and in the University Advising Office.

Shawn is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University with an M.S. in Social Administration. He also holds a B.A. in Sociology from The College of Wooster. Prior to joining CSU in 2008, Shawn worked at Cuyahoga Community College as a student advisor in a federal TRIO/Educational Opportunity Program.

Kristy joined the Cleveland State community in 2005, shortly after the founding of the College of Science. Currently, she oversees the College of Science Advising Center and holds general responsibility for the recruitment and retention of College of Science students. She holds a BA in Public Relations and an MA in Business and Organizational Communication, and has had varied professional experiences in both New Student Orientation and Career Services at her alma mater, The University of Akron. Kristy is also a Cleveland State student, proudly pursuing a PhD in Urban Education through the College of Education and Human Services.

Cheri is proud to be a CSU alum and member of the College of Science Advising Center. Prior to joining the College of Science in 2007, she worked with students and families through the YMCA and Lakeland Community College for many years. She holds a BA in Communication, and recently earned a Master of Education in Adult Learning and Development. She volunteers with Adult Basic Literacy programs, and is committed to promoting literacy and educational opportunities for all adults.

 

 

Justine Maria, Student Assistant

Justine is currently attending Cleveland State University. She is working on a BA in both Criminology and Sociology and pursuing a minor in Criminal Justice. After she graduates, she will be attending the Police Academy to pursue her aspirations of becoming a Criminal Investigator. Justine would also like to become a Forensic Scientist. Her ultimate goal is to pursue both careers and she will put the most effort towards that goal.

 

 

 

Selena Vicario, Student Assistant

Selena is currently pursuing a BA in Political Science with a minor in Sociology and is also a dance instructor. She has previously worked for numerous political campaigns, issues, and causes. After graduating, she plans to attend law school and eventually plans to run for public office in the U.S. Senate in an independent political party.

 

 

 

Cheryl Wright, Graduate Assistant

Prior to attending Cleveland State University, Cheryl graduated from Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Relations. She has since decided to pursue a Masters degree in Education, specializing in School Counseling. Her goal is to become a guidance counselor or college advisor upon completion of her program. She is interested in earning a Ph.D. and becoming a professor who conducts individual counseling on the side.

 

 

Stephanie Zarraga, Graduate Assistant

Stephanie is a Cleveland State University graduate. She earned a bachelor's degree in Communication with concentrations in Organizational Communication and Public Relations in 2008. Currently, she is a graduate student in the College of Education and Human Services. Upon completion of her graduate studies she aspires to work with high school students and helping them achieve higher education.
