Merger of Grants Accounting and Office of Sponsored Programs and Research

Posted December 4, 2013 - Office of Research

We are pleased to announce that effective January 2, 2014, Grants Accounting of the Controller's Office will merge with the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research in the Office of Research to form a new office named Sponsored Programs and Research Services (SPRS). The goal of the merger is to better serve faculty by providing seamless support for pre- and post-award functions. The new Sponsored Programs and Research Services will now serve as the faculty "one-stop-shop" for all grant and research administration functions, including proposal development assistance and submission, contract review, award setup, grant accounting, effort certification and financial closeout, with the continued use of the PeopleSoft Grants Module. Integration of these offices will improve sponsored programs support to faculty, staff and sponsors while reducting duplicative effort and gaining operational efficiencies. The new Sponsored Programs and Research Services will be located on the 2nd floor of the Parker Hannifin Hall Building.

We believe that the new organizational structure and leadership will enable us to compete effectively and expand our research portfolio in the coming years. The Office of Research website will contain all up-to-date information for the new Sponsored Programs and Research Services. We appreciate your patience as we fully implement this transition process. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know, or call us at x9364.

Thank you.
