Why is this data being collected?
The U.S. Department of Education Federal compliance requirement states that the financial aid office must recalculate federal financial aid based on the last date of participation for a student who fails to earn a passing grade in all of their courses for that semester.
Why do I have to enter the last date of participation?
The recalculation of federal aid does not occur- - If a student is able to prove that they “earned” the non-passing grades. They “earned” the right to keep the financial aid they received for that semester, in spite of not passing any of their courses for that term.
What does “participation” mean?
The U.S. Department of Education defines it as: graded quizzes, exams and/ or coursework.

When accessing the roster, the I and/or X will be listed as part of a drop down box that will contain other grades. The grade can be changed and the grade saved by selecting the Change Grade Button. Once changed the student’s record on the roster will contain the I/X under the Grade Input and the date (if one entered) will be stored, BUT the new grade will display in the Official Grade field.
