Parent and Child Aquatics

Ages: 6 months-5 years 11 months
The purpose of this class is to teach safe behaviors in, on and around the water and to develop swimming readiness. Parents and children engage in water exploration activities with the objective of having fun and becoming comfortable in, on and around the water.
 

Preschool Aquatics

Ages: 4 years-5 years 11 months
This class aims to promote the developmentally appropriate learning of fundamental water safety and aquatic skills by young children. Red Cross Preschool Aquatics teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression through 3 levels of courses.
 

Swim School 1-3

Ages: 6 years -14 years
This program consists of 3 comprehensive levels that teach students of varying ages and abilities how to swim skillfully and safely. Each level includes training in basic water safety in addition to aquatic and safety skills taught in a logical progression. The object is to teach people to swim and to be safe in, on and around the water.

  • Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills-Orient participants to the aquatic environment and help them gain basic aquatic skills. Help participants begin to develop positive attitudes and safe practices around water. No prerequisites required.
  • Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills-Build on the basic aquatic skills and water safety skills and concepts learned in Level 1.
  • Level 3: Stroke Development-Build on skills in Levels 1 and 2 to help participants achieve basic water competency on their own in a pool environment. Students learn to swim without support in this level.

*Children registered for Level 1 & 2 will be divided into groups based on skill competencies.
 

Stroke School 4-6

Ages: 6 years-14 years 11 months
This program consists of 3 comprehensive levels that teach students of varying ages and abilities how to swim skillfully and safely. Each level includes training in basic water safety in addition to aquatic and safety skills taught in a logical progression. The object is to teach people to swim and to be safe in, on and around the water.

  • Level 4: Stroke Improvement-Improve participants’ proficiency in performing the swimming strokes that were introduced in Level 3.
  • Level 5: Stroke Refinement-Help participants refine their performance in all six swimming strokes (i.e., front crawl/freestyle, back crawl/backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke).
  • Level 6: Swimming and Skill Proficiency-Refine strokes so participants swim with greater efficiency and effectiveness over longer distances.
     
Adult Swim

Ages: 15 years and up
These courses are for teens and adults with differing levels of swimming ability.
