Safety Escorts
The Cleveland State University Police Department provides
safety escorts to or from any location on or near campus 24 hours a day, 7
days a week.
Student Community Service Officers (CSO's), wearing orange shirts or jackets, assist with
safety escorts. CSO's also provide bicycle patrols, building
monitoring, and regular patrols of the campus, buildings and inner link
walkways.
Call 687-2020 to request an escort. Don't walk
alone -- Use the Safety Escorts!

Building Security |

All University buildings are posted with the open hours on the entrance
doors. Generally, buildings are open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday -
Saturday and are closed Sunday. Specific areas, such as the
Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, have extended hours as needs dictate.
When buildings are locked, only authorized personnel are granted access.
Access to Closed University Buildings
Access to closed buildings will not be provided for students, staff, or
other designees unless the "Semester Only" Special Admittance to
University Buildings form is completed and on file in the Police
Dispatch office. This form is used when a faculty member may wish to
have his or her designees allowed entry in a University building during the
hours or days that a building is closed. This form refers only to
exterior building doors. The form may be faxed to you, a faculty
member, or administrator, by contacting Kathleen Engel at ext. 4349 or Shena
Hardin at ext. 2184. Please direct any
questions about the form to Kathleen at ext. 4349, or e-mail
k.a.engel(at)csuohio.edu.
Residence Dormitories
The residence dormitories, Viking Hall and Fenn Tower, have controlled access through an
electronic building security system which utilizes magnetically locked
perimeter doors that are released automatically in the event of a fire.
The main doors, which are monitored 24 hours a day by student personnel,
are the only means of entrance and egress. Access to Viking Hall
and Fenn Tower is
restricted to student occupants, escorted guests, and authorized
personnel.
