Emergency Management

Emergency Communication Methods

Emergency Notifications and Alerting

A key element to CSU’s Emergency Management Plan is the employment of a multi-modal, all hazards emergency alert and notification system.  In the event of an actual or potential emergent situation, these systems are designed to deliver notifications and alerts quickly and efficiently to members and visitors of the CSU campus community.   The three fundamental components of the University’s notification and alert system are the Voice Emergency Notification System (VENS) which provides voice/audio notification through the University’s existing fire alarm system, the CSU Alert system capable of issuing mass emergency notifications and announcements quickly to subscribed users via text message, email or recorded voice messages, and through notification and alerts posted and updated frequently on the CSU website.

All University emergency notification systems are subject to regularly scheduled maintenance and testing by the University’s Department of Access Control & Security Systems (AC&SS) to ensure their reliability and functionality in the event of an actual emergency.
